Pavia e Ansaldo Studio Legale and Uniafrica announce the launch of a partnership for the spread and training on OHADA law

Milan, 15 November 2018 – Law firm Pavia e Ansaldo and Uniafrica (, as permanent representative for the information and training on OHADA law in the Italian speaking territories, announce the launch of a partnership for the spreading of information on and training in OHADA law (Organisation pour l’harmonisation en Afrique du droit des affaires – Organisation for the Harmonisation of business law in Africa).

OHADA is an international organisation currently made up of 17 African States which, through the adoption of uniform acts, has harmonised and standardised the business law of its member States, to facilitate and promote the activities and investments of local and international operators.

The provisions contained in the uniform acts adopted by OHADA’s institutions are compulsory and applicable directly in the member States, regardless of any provision to the contrary under the national legislation.

Just recently, a committee for the coordination and development of the related activities (CEOUI – Executive Committee OHADA-Uniafrica Italy) was set up.

Mr. Andrea Romano, Vice-President of Uniafrica, has been appointed Chairman of the Committee and Mr. Mario Di Giulio, responsible for the Desk Africa with Law Firm Pavia e Ansaldo, has been appointed Vice-President for professional training and the spreading of scientific knowledge.

The Committee’s Honorary President is OHADA’s Permanent Secretary in office, currently Prof. Dorothé SOSSA. She is supported, for each subject-matter of the uniform acts, by an expert delegated by OHADA.

The areas of application of the uniform acts are as follows:

  • arbitration;
  • business law;
  • corporate accounting;
  • commercial companies;
  • cooperatives;
  • accounting law and financial information;
  • guarantees;
  • insolvency procedures;
  • credit recovery;
  • transports.

Starting from November the websites of Uniafrica and Pavia e Ansaldo will publish information and in-depth studies on OHADA and its regulations, as well as on the decisions taken by the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration, OHADA’s judicial body.
