Pavia and Ansaldo and Bird & Bird with Eku Energy and Renera Energy Italy to develop battery energy storage projects in Italy

 

Milan, 21 July 2023 – Eku Energy Limited, a UK-based global energy storage company, has entered into an agreement with Renera Energy Italy Holding S.r.l. to develop a pipeline of energy storage battery projects totalling 1GW.

 

In the context of the agreement, Eku Energy is already financing projects with a combined capacity of more than 100 MW in Southern Italy, a region with high levels of renewable energy penetration.

 

The law firm Pavia e Ansaldo assisted Eku Energy Limited, with a team comprising partner Marco Jannon and counsel Mario Nunziata, for the tax structuring of the transaction, and partner Carlo Emanuele Rossi and associate Pietro Miazzi, for the corporate and legal aspects.

 

The law firm Bird & Bird assisted Renera Energy Italy Holding S.r.l., for the legal aspects with a team coordinated by Pierpaolo Mastromarini, partner in charge of the Energy & Utilities sector in Italy, and led as project manager by counsel Michele Arruzzolo and, with the support of associate Silvia Sbaiz, and for the tax aspects by partner Gaetano Salvioli and senior associate Dario D’Alò.
